Approximately 55 miles total

Turn left from the hotel parking lot onto Indiana 56.  Go 2 miles and angle right on Indiana 56 and US 150. Proceed through Paoli. As you go around the courthouse square go north on Indiana 37 for 9 miles to the south edge of Mitchell.  Turn right on Indiana 60.  Go 3 miles to the entrance to Spring Mill State Park.

There is a charge for the park.  It is $5.00 for in- state and $7.00 for out of state per carload.

At the entrance there is the Grissom Space Museum.  There have been 3 astronauts from this small area.  Proceed into the park and follow the signs to a cave with a boat ride, a very nice lodge with good food, and a pioneer village.  The village has an operating mill, several log homes, a drug store, a general store, and several pioneer businesses.  There are trails for walking and horseback riding.

After you have done what you want in the park, follow the same route back to French Lick.

For those who like to antique there are several shops in downtown Mitchell.
